Statement of Purpose 

The purpose of my leadership in education is to foster an inclusive and rigorous instructional community so that all students, not in spite of but because of their uniqueness, experience the highest quality of equitable instruction, leading them to self actualization and post-secondary success.

Where I Came From:
I moved to San Marcos from Denver, Colorado in 2019. I was born in Las Vegas, NM and grew up in Colorado Springs, CO.  

Where I Went to College:
I obtained a bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder, my master’s degree from Boston University, and my graduate work in administration from Fort Hays State University.

My Career in Education: 

  • 8 years as a high school vocal music teacher

  • 7 years as a middle school IB music teacher 

  • Colorado Education Association state assembly delegate 

  • IB presenter and regional subject area leader

Where I Came From…
I grew up in a small town outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I moved to San Diego about 20 years ago and haven’t looked back!

Where I Went to College:
I went to a small, liberal arts college in upstate New York called Colgate University. I then earned my Master’s Degree from National University. 

My Career in Education: 
I started teaching English as a Second Language in Costa Rica, Guatemala, and San Diego and that’s where I fell in love with the profession. I was then lucky enough to be hired to teach English at San Marcos High School. When Mission Hills was built I was selected to be a Grizzly. At MHHS I have coached basketball, worked on the School Site Council, acted at the English team leader for several years, and supported new teachers as a BTSA Liaison. I worked at Twin Oaks High School for two years as a teacher on special assignment where I fulfilled administrative duties. After that stint, I was fortunate to be brought back the MHHS as an Assistant Principal. 

Statement of Purpose  strive to find purpose in every day and in everyone. I am dedicated to supporting those educating and being educated within a close knit community in which I live and work. My goal is to be a compassionate, open-minded, and supportive leader that is accessible and positive.

Where I came from… I was born in Las Vegas but grew up in San Diego. I currently live in Oceanside.

Where I went to College Graduated from the University of Arizona. Earned my Masters in Education from National University.

My Career in Education District Technology TOSA, San Marcos Unified. English Teacher at Mission Hills High School for 2 years. Taught English at Pitman High School in Turlock, California. LA teacher and department head at Woodland Park Middle School for 7 years. Assistant Principal at Mission Hills High School

Where I came from…

I was born in San Diego and grew up in San Marcos. I graduated from SMHS in '95

Where I Went to College:

I graduated from University of California San Diego in 2000 with a BS in Biochemistry and Cellular Biology. In 2001 I earned my single subject life science and chemistry credential from California State University San Marcos. In 2007 I completed my MA in Education with an emphasis in Education Administration

My Career in Education:

2004-2009; Teacher MHHS Chemistry, Honors Chemistry, Biochemistry, Teacher of the Year 2008-09

2009-2010; Teacher Atholton HS Colombia MD Biology

2010-2012; Teacher MHHS Chemistry, Honors Chemistry, Biochemistry, Crystal Apple Award 2011-12

Statement of Purpose:
It is my goal to prepare all our student Grizzlies for student success; to be responsible, independent, thoughtful and creative young adults who reach their full potential academically, socially, physically and emotionally. I believe all students are scholars and will meet or exceed academic proficiencies, prepared to excel in college, military or career and beyond. To ensure students attain success it is imperative I support the MH staff by being a competent, fully engaged leader who will seek to understand, who holds high personal regard and will follow-through in my actions connected to student success.

Where I Came From:

I was born in Sydney, Australia but have lived in North County San Diego for most of my life.

Where I Went to College:
I have my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Cal State San Marcos, then returned for my Teacher and Admin Credential.

My Career in Education: 
I started my teaching career at Mission Hills in 2005.
I’ve taught many different math courses.
