Important Tips

1. Before starting your application, please review application questions below. 
2. You can copy and paste the essay and speech into the application. 
3. Submit application on or before Monday, May 18th.


Qualifications

  1. Have a cumulative weighted grade point average of 3.75 or higher after the first semester of Senior year or as of the second progress report of spring semester of the senior year (Honor Grad).   Earned a minimum of 90 credits at Mission Hills High School.
  2. Agree to allow the complete academic, attendance and disciplinary records reviewed by the Valedictorian Selection Committee.
  3. Have a school attendance record that is, in the sole judgment of the Valedictorian Selection Committee, free from excessive unexcused absences or tardies.
  4. Have a disciplinary record that is, in the sole judgment of the Valedictorian Selection Committee, free from major discipline offences including those involving academic dishonesty.

Application (Due:  Monday, May 18th)

1. Complete online application.  The applications includes the following:

  • Name     
  • Cumulative Weighted GPA
  • Cell Phone   
  • Email
  • High School Activities/Involvement
  • Honors/Awards
  • Work/Volunteer History
  • EssayIn a 500 word maximum typed essay, explain the importance of this honor and reasons why you should be considered.
  • Speech: Prepare a two minute graduation speech; the speech should be the one you desire to deliver the day of graduation.

 

Auditions (Students will be emailed if they will be moving on to auditions)

  1. Prepare a two minute graduation speech. The speech should be the one you desire to deliver the day of graduation.
  2. Deliver the speech to the Valedictorian Selection Committee.
  3. Props, instruments, music, visual aids, etc. will not be permitted.
  4. Be open to suggestions for editing and willing to come back for additional round(s).
