Qualifications

  1. Have a cumulative weighted grade point average of 3.75 or higher after the second progress report of spring semester of the senior year (Honor Grad).   Earned a minimum of 90 credits at the High School you are applying.
  2. Agree to allow the complete academic, attendance and disciplinary records reviewed by the Valedictorian Selection Committee.
  3. Have a school attendance record that is, in the sole judgment of the Valedictorian Selection Committee, free from excessive unexcused absences or tardies.
  4. Have a disciplinary record that is, in the sole judgment of the Valedictorian Selection Committee, free from major discipline offences including those involving academic dishonesty.

Application (Due on Monday, May 20th no later than 10:30am in the AP Office)

  1. Complete a typed application.
  2. Adhere to all requirements and timelines stated on the application including the following:

a. In a 500 word maximum typed essay, explain the importance of this honor and reasons why you should be considered.

b. Prepare a two minute graduation speech; the speech should be the one you desire to deliver the day of graduation.

 

Auditions

  1. Prepare a two minute graduation speech. The speech should be the one you desire to deliver the day of graduation.
  2. Deliver the speech to the Valedictorian Selection Committee.
  3. Props, instruments, music, visual aids, etc. will not be permitted.
  4. Be open to suggestions for editing and willing to come back for additional round(s).
